Historic Athens

Everybody has heard of Athens, but whoever thinks of going on holiday there? In fifteen years of marriage, I had only been to about four different countries on our family holidays. We normally went to France, and we all knew and loved the country well. We had spent a few holidays down in the South West of France, we had also gone on numerous family holidays in Brittany, and we had also tried out the South West and the South East a couple of times each.
We loved all of these locations, and felt that France was a bit of a second home, but after all these years we were starting to feel as if we owed it to ourselves to discover new places and expand our experiences a bit. In the past few years we had been to Spain and to Italy, but neither of those countries compared to France for either of us.
This year we decided that we should try to go somewhere completely different, and we found some cheap flights to Athens online. I had never even considered anywhere like Athens before, and it would certainly be a different holiday. We booked our tickets there and then and decided that we really had to put ourselves out there.
Athens was an amazing place top go to on holiday, and I have to say that it felt like we might have found another second home. We have already decided to go back there next year to further explore the surrounding areas, and if our holiday next year is anything as nice as our holiday this year, then we will be visiting Athens for many years to come.
